Ann Anderson, age 87, of New York Mills, MN died on Thursday July 20, 2006 at Merit Care Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28 at St. Peters' Lutheran Church in New York Mills with Pastor Steve Dahl officiating. Music will be provided by Lindsey Huwe, organist and Jolanda Anderson and Norman Lundby, vocalists. Honorary pallbearers are Ann's grandchildren: Carrie Uphus, Davin Anderson, Justin Anderson, Colin Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Emily Anderson, Juha Rouvinen, and Heikki Rouvinen. Interment is in St. Peter' Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, July 25 at Karvonen and Son Funeral Home in New York Mills.

Ann Helen Johnson was born at Medina, ND on October 31, 1918, the daughter of Nels and Marie (Sandvig) Johnson. She and her family moved in the early 1930's to Minnesota settling in Otto Township of Otter Tail County. She would often ride a horse to attend school in New York Mills. She also lived, as a student, for a time at a boarding home in New York Mills. Ann graduated from New York Mills High School in June of 1936. She was married to Verner Anderson, at the farm, on Thanksgiving Day of 1936. She raised her family on the farm that she and her husband operated near New York Mills. They were named the Farm Couple of the Year in the 1960's at the Crookston Winter Shows in Crookston, MN. In 1965, Ann began working as a Nurses Aide at the New York Mills Hospital and later at the Perham Memorial Home and the Elders' Home in New York Mills. She loved to quilt and at one time worked with a Master Quilter. She also raised a garden, canned and made jelly. She also volunteered her time at the Senior Craft Shop in New York Mills. She did many things and it was felt that there wasn't anything that she couldn't do.

Ann is survived by her sons: Dennis Anderson, New York Mills; Thomas Anderson, New York Mills; Robert Anderson, Harland, MI; and Scott (Jolanda) Anderson, of Crookston, MN; a sister: Marie Oman, Osburn, ID. A brother: Nels Johnson, Greenbush, MN; grandchildren: Carrie M. (Douglas) Uphus, David Anderson, Justin Anderson, Colin Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Jacob Anderson, and Emily Anderson; great grandchildren: Madeline Uphus, Stephen Uphus, and Ella Anderson; step-grandchildren: Juha (Mervi) Rouvinen and Heikki Rouvinen; and step great grandchildren: Nicklas Rouvinen and Hugo Rouvinen.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Verner, who died in September of 2000; her parents, and a daughter, Carol.
