Much has happened in this country and community during the past few years. Prior to Election 2004, flags, campaign posters, bumper stickers, and slogans adorned the town of Perham, with most of them endorsing the present administration. All extraneous signs have disappeared. Have attitudes changed in the light of all that has happened?
I ask the reader to consider the following questions to determine if there are any to which he or she would answer yes:
Should one party hold the majority in all three branches of government?
Was it O.K. to lie about WMDs to justify the invasion of Iraq?
Should former C.E.Os and owners of corporations hold some of the most important positions in government?

Is wiretapping without authorization from Congress an acceptable practice?
Does the Pro-Life stand only include babies?
Is there justification for issuing no bid contracts to Chaneys old company, Haliburton?
Were tax cuts for the rich necessary for boosting our economy?
Is the huge national debt weve incurred unimportant?
Should the President and Congress continue to ignore big oils windfall profits?
Can justification be found both for ignoring the rules of the Geneva Convention regarding prisoners, and for refusing to sign the Koyoto Protocol restricting corporate factory emissions?
Is dissent unpatriotic, and should it be countered by attempts to discredit and bring on character assassination?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, your position probably hasnt changed. In my opinion, it should be every ones duty to be concerned about the future of this country.
