Taylor Cavanagh has Been carrying the Jacket boys golf team. In his last three events, Cavanagh has earned medalist honors twice and finished as the runner-up in the third.
His 34 on Monday at the HOL in Hawley was once again the low score as he led Perham to a second place finish. Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal won on their home course with a four-person score of 152. Perham finished with 157, well ahead of third place West Central Area with 171. Frazee was fourth with 172 and Agassiz Valley was fifth with 175.
Mike Guehna had the next low score for Perham with a 40. Barry Nelson shot a 41, followed by Will Ryan with a 42.

The meet tightened up the four-team conference race with four meets remaining before the HOL Championships at Wildflower on May 18.
Despite their fifth place finish Monday, Agassiz Valley is still on top with 12 points. West Central Area moved into second with 13, followed by Perham and H/U-H in a tie for third with 14. The next closest team, D-G-F, is well behind with 29 points.
Cavanagh also won medalist honors during the 18-hole invite at Hawley with a 3-under, 68. Perham finished second with 309. H/U-H won the 15-team invite with a 306.
Breckenridge Invite
The Jackets werent at the top of their game last week at Breckenridge, but played well enough to finish in a tie for third in the 16-team invite (316) and take second in the nine-hole Heart O Lakes event (159).
The course at Breckenridge was shortened by three strokes, all on the back nine, due to spring flooding. The 18-hole par was a 69, the front nine, where the HOL meet was tabulated, played at a par-36.
Ortonville, led by medalist Alex Danwalds 69, won the 16-team invite with a 292. Agassiz Valley was second with a 314 and Perham tied with Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal with 316.
In the HOL meet, Perham edged H/U-H by one-stroke to finish second behind Agassiz Valley (157).

Cavanagh was the HOLs medalist with a 35. Will Ryan shot a 40, followed by Barry Nelson and Mike Guehna with 42s.
The Jackets will golf close to home in a couple of events in the next week. Today (May 4), they will play at Forest Hills G.C. in the HOL hosted by Lake Park-Audubon starting at 4:30 p.m.
They will compete in the Pelican Rapids Invite on May 5, then play at Balmoral G.C. on Otter Tail Lake in the HOL hosted by Battle Lake on May 8.
