Boys second at True Team Section

Caleb Anderson nearly led the boys track team to the State True Team Meet by himself Tuesday. Anderson won the 800m, finished third in the 400m and fourth in the 200m. But the Perham boys finished in second place for the second straight year with 462 points. Fergus Falls won the boys team title with 495.5 points.

Alonzo Williams finished sixth in three events, the 100m dash, the 200m dash and the long jump. Eddie Stenger was runner-up in the 1600m, Kevin Lacowitzer was second in the 3200m and Nathan Lillis had the second-best pole vault, clearing 126.

The girls finished fifth with 335.5 points. East Grand Forks (547.5) edged Detroit Lakes (532) for the girls title.

Brittany Gigstead won the 1600m for the girls. Becca Peloquin (7th-100 hurdles; 8th-300 hurdles) and Elisa Moenkedick (6th-shot put; 7th-discus) each had a pair of top-10 finishes.

Hank Emmel Invite

Gigstead won distance M.V.P. and set a new school record in the 800m at the Hank Emmel Invite in Pelican Rapids last week. Her time of 2:18.57 broke the previous mark set by Gabriele Anderson.

As a team, the girls finished third with 68 points. Agassiz Valley won the team title with 140 points.

Ethan Huwe won the boys distance M.V.P. by winning the 3200m run and finishing second in the 1600m run, leading the boys to a second place finish. Breckenridge won the boys team title with 123 points. Perham finished with 108.

The Jackets are competing in the Daggett Invitational in Frazee today (May 11) at 3:45 p.m.

Perham will have a rare third home meet on May 16 when they host the Heart O Lakes Championships starting at 4 p.m.

The Barnesville Invite on May 18 will wrap-up the regular season.
