Burnette Jaeger " 1921-2006
Burnette Marie Wilhelmina Jaeger was born January 31, 1921 in Waltham, MN to Louis and Emma (Baumgartner) Jaeger. She grew up and attended country school in the area. Burnette married Eric Nordstrom on February 16, 1939. Eight children were born to this union, Robert, Phillip, John, Garry, Wayne, William, Brenda and Deborah. They resided in the Blooming Prairie, and the Pequot Lakes, areas until moving to Hewitt in 1966. Eric died in 1966. Burnette married Rudolph (Rudy) Lind on February 17, 1967 in Hewitt. They resided in the Sebeka area until moving to Garden City, SD, in 1977. Rudy died in 1983. On August 16, 1984 she married Chester Pizanie in Salem, SD. They resided in Barataria, LA until Chesters Death in 1989. Burnette returned to South Dakota. In 2000 she moved back to the Sebeka area.
Burnette loved to host card parties. On Friday and Saturday evenings the neighbors would come over to take a sauna and play cards. She was an excellent seamstress and completed many beautifully embroidered items. She was a fantastic cook; she was known for her wonderful dill pickles and the way she cooked Lutefisk to perfection. She loved music and dancing; she enjoyed listening to the Polka station out of New Ulm. She truly enjoyed traveling. Burnette took her first airplane flight at the age of 70 and loved it! She worked as a home health aid for many years in several different areas in Minnesota and South Dakota.
Burnette is survived by her children; sons: Robert of Austin, John of Crosby, Gary (Suzie) of Duluth, Wayne of West Concord, William of Owatonna, daughters: Brenda (Leslie) Schwartz of Wadena, and Deborah (Randy) Olson of Menahga, 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, son Phillip Nordstrom, and granddaughter Kimberly (Nordstrom) Malm.
Funeral Services were held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Wevley Funeral Chapel in Sebeka, MN, with Pastor Mark Manning officiating. Hymns included recordings of The Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art, and Amazing Grace. Honorary Pallbearers were the Staff at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga. Active Casketbearers were Eric Schwartz, Rory Schwartz, Samuel Helland, Randy Olson, Les Schwartz and Gabriel Ward. Interment was at Mantyla Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN.
