Residents in Erie Township are in the dark and without power after a car accident there.
According to the Becker County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened on County Road 144 near the Becker County Transfer Station. The outage affects residents throughout Erie Township, who are supplied by Wild Rice Electric.
The accident, which happened just after 2:30 p.m., took out a section of line that's owned by the Otter Tail Power Company.
Kevin Fee of Minnkota says the power outage affects roughly 2,000 customers, but adds they do expect power to be restored by 6:30 tonight.
There is no word yet of possible injuries.
