Two adults and five children were injured Monday afternoon, July 4, when a car crashed into a ditch along U.S. Highway 10 near Lake Park in Becker County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The car was headed east about 12:45 p.m. when the driver swerved to the right to avoid colliding with slowed traffic. This caused the car to enter the ditch, the patrol said.
The driver and six passengers were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes with injuries that were not life threatening, the patrol said.
The patrol said the children, ranging in age from an infant to a 16-year-old, were not wearing seat belts. The driver, 24-year-old Masa Gehyigan, was wearing a seat belt, and her airbag deployed, the patrol said.
It wasn't clear whether Gehyigan would be cited.
