Keepitlocal.com broke ground for its headquarters last week in Perham.

The internet company, which sells vehicles, power sports machines, real estate and other items, is locally owned by Bob and Marion Johnson, who bought it in January of 2006.

The 3,540 square foot facility is being constructed in the Happel Addition, on a 1.06 acre lot.

The firm qualified as a JOBZ designated business, an economic development program which provides numerous tax breaks for businesses that qualify.

The firm is expecting to employ seven workers initially, and 25 over the next few years, said Bob Johnson.

Office manager Diane Colosky and chief financial officer Brian Ulrich were also on hand for the groundbreaking Nov. 15.

The firm is presently located in temporary quarters in New York Mills, but the operation is expected to move entirely to Perham next spring.
