The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners approved lake property projects near Perham, Pelican Rapids, rural Battle Lake and other areas across the county last week.

The county board followed recommendations of the county planning commission, which held its meeting on April 11.

Approved was a West McDonald Lake project requested by Stacey and Amy Hoiberg regarding altering of topography to accommodate a small walkout entry to a basement. As a condition to the approval, the owners must have a Minnesota-licensed sewage system designer identify an alternative onsite drain field.

A request from David Majkrzak for a preliminary play of Dave and Deb's Subdivision for two single-family residential lots at Pelican Lake in Dunn Township was approved.

Also approved without a condition was a request by Greenwood Lake Aire Villa (James and Janice Williams) to raise and temporarily relocate a cabin at Otter Tail Lake.

Approved as presented was a request by Wee Villa Resort for replacement of trailers, roofs and other projects. The location is Long Lake in Elizabeth Township.

Conditions were part of an approved project requested by Mary Jane Peterson Trust to allow for a walk-out basement at Stalker Lake in Tordenskjold Township, northeast of Dalton. The condition is for a fish house and storage shed to be brought into compliance.

Approved with conditions was a request by Lu Jean Schei to construct a grain handling facility near an unnamed lake in Tordenskjold Township. The facility will be constructed in accordance with state and local regulations and restrictions.

Also approved with a condition was a request for a project at Rose Lake in Hobart Township, northwest of Perham. David and Erin Schultz requested placement of a 1,000-foot driveway through their property to a building site. The okay was given, provided that appropriate erosion control measures be implemented.

A project at Crooked Lake in Sverdrup Township, north of Underwood, was approved by the county board. Steve and Barbara Nelson requested excavation in order to build two additions to an existing house, as well as a driveway. The project was approved, on condition that requirements of the Wetland Conservation Act are met.

A conditional use permit for placement of concrete patios and sidewalk around a building and out to Otter Tail Lake in Everts Township was approved. The request came from BLM, LLP, for a restaurant owner (the former Graystone on the west side of the lake). Conditions include compliance with impervious surface and adequate sewage system.

The next meeting of the county planning commission will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at the county Government Services Center in northwest Fergus Falls.
