Joseph Lee Rosenberg, 33, of rural Vergas was charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree controlled substance crime, and gross misdemeanor carrying a pistol without a permit.
According to court records, on July 18 the vehicle Rosenberg was driving was pulled over in Detroit Lakes because there was an object hanging from the rear view mirror.
Rosenberg’s license was revoked, and after he asked the officer to reach into the back seat to grab a bag of food, the officer noticed a handgun sitting on the center console, on top of two syringes, according to court records. Inside the console he found 21.8 grams of meth in a zipper-lock plastic bag, along with ammunition for the gun. Rosenberg did not have a permit to carry.
On Sept. 13, District Judge Jay Carlson set cash bail for Rosenberg at $2,000 or bond at $20,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $40,000 with no conditions of release.
