A warrant has been issued in Becker County District Court for a man accused of stabbing two other men in the Detroit Lakes Walmart parking lot last year.
Anthony Linus Orner, 35, of Frazee was charged in Becker County District Court with two felony counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to court records, on Nov. 19, 2018, he showed up at the Walmart parking lot, angry because his girlfriend was at Walmart with two men. He pulled her out of the car that the three were sitting in, then he got into the back seat and started stabbing the two men in the car, according to court records.
A law enforcement officer who went to the emergency room after the stabbing found them lying in hospital beds with occlusive bandages on their sides and tubes in their chests. One had suffered a collapsed lung from a stab wound on the left side and was “moaning in agony,” according to court records.
The second man had stab wounds in his left arm and left chest area and underwent trauma surgery for respiratory distress.
The girlfriend was arrested on a warrant in May, and told investigators that immediately after the assault, Orner told her that he stabbed the two men, seemed proud of it, and said he turned the knife while stabbing the first man. He kept the knife and later threw it out the vehicle window, she said.
On Nov. 12, District Judge Gretchen Thilmony issued a warrant for his arrest. Orner has had 16 prior warrants issued for his arrest, according to court records.
