Perham at Lucky Lindy
After taking a week away from competition, the Yellow Jacket cross country team returns to action today (Sept. 11)?at the Lucky Lindy Invitational in Little Falls.
Racing begins at 4:15 p.m. with the boys J.V. race with the girls J.V. running at 4:45.
Varsity races begin at 5:10 with the boys going first, followed by the girls at 5:35.
Perham and St. Cloud Cathedral are the only Class A?teams in the field. Currently, the Jacket girls are ranked No. 3 and the boys have moved up to No. 4. The Cathedral girls are No. 5, with the boys ranked No. 11.
Also in the field are: Alexandria (Boys are No. 5-AA), Bemidji, Brainerd (boys are No. 6-AA).
Individually, Perham's Maddie McClellan is No. 3 and Abby Anderson is No. 4 in Class A.
After the Lucky Lindy, Perham will take another week off from competition before running at St. Olaf in Northfield on Sept. 20.
Area fifth and sixth graders are encouraged to join Mighty Mite Cross Country this fall.
Mighty Mites next practice will be Friday, Sept. 12, at Meinhover Field from 3:45-5 p.m.
There is no cost to take part in Mighty Mites CC.
Practice dates will be: Sept. 12, Sept. 16, Sept. 18, Sept. 23, Sept. 25, Sept. 30, and Oct. 2, where the season will end at the Perham Invitational.
Having fun and participation will constantly be stressed above all else. Workouts are intended to introduce running for longer periods of time (which very seldom get over 10-15 minutes in length at one time) stressing some of the basic fundamentals and techniques while learning to enjoy running. Each practice will have a theme and running game for the day.
