County board members have been informed that the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) in New York Mills would like to own a different building. If that were to take place, the HRA would rehab the current building and open a daycare center in New York Mills. Previously, the county board found it was cost prohibitive to remodel a lower section of the county-owned office building north of downtown New York Mills into a daycare facility. However, a different use of the lower level of the county building in New York Mills is being explored.
Speed zone study requested northwest of Perham
A group of residents near Long Lake, northwest of Perham and east of Vergas, have requested that the county pursue a reduced speed limit along County Highway 36. County board members and highway department employees believe that a speed zone reduction would be beneficial in this area. The county board is requesting that this area be studied by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT) to determine the need for a reduced speed zone, if any. Changes would be the responsibility of the DOT.
