Brad Eric Sibert, 43, of Deer Creek, will have a drug sentence stayed for five years if he follows probation and remains law abiding.
The judge made a ruling in this case on March 19 in county court, Fergus Falls.
Sibert's crime dates back to December 2018. He was released from jail on March 19 with credit for 17 days served. The remaining days of a 30-day sentence were vacated. He is responsible for court fees that total $225.
Fifth-degree possession of drugs is the least severe felony drug possession crime in Minnesota. More serious drug charges can result in not only county jail sentencing but also incarceration at the state prison facility in St. Cloud.
Stayed means the judge has sentenced someone to jail, but has delayed the sentence. If the defendant violates the terms of probation, the original jail sentence is imposed.

During his five-year probation, Sibert must cooperate with his probation agent with random searches of his residence, vehicle, workplace and property. He must follow all state and federal criminal laws.
The judge also ordered Sibert to complete an updated chemical use assessment and to follow all recommendations.
