Aided by a $160,000 federal Rural Development grant, the city will be completing the approximate $655,000 project this fall, said Mayor Coleman.
The expansion will provide wastewater treatment capacity for another 20 connections, said Coleman, as well as repairs of some of the existing sewer lines.
The city, along with the Dent Volunteer Fire Department, will also be looking at replacing one of the older, 1982 trucks, in the future. The department recently purchased a "demonstration" pumper, for $80,000.
