That might be an appropriate slogan for year 2006 at the Perham Lakeside Golf Course.

Were looking at all those little things, some of the smaller improvements and maintenance items that may have been sidetracked with all the attention and resources dedicated to construction of the clubhouse a few years ago, said golf pro and Mulligans general manager Nick Anderson.

Describing it as a beautification program, Anderson said it will range from landscaping to minor repairs.

The detailing of Perham Lakeside is quickly and most visibly evident as you enter: A brand new sign has been erected, accompanied by attractive landscaping.

The sign is no small detail, and it sets the stage for a summer of varying improvements, said Anderson.

The sign also augments the continuing emphasis on welcoming everybody to Lakeside and Mulligans Pub and Eatery. For five years, Lakeside has been putting to rest the country club name that can be construed as exclusive or elitist. Non-golfers and golfers, young and old, are all welcome for lunch, Sunday brunch or dinner, or a refreshment at Mulligans, said Anderson. With its increasing focus on events, receptions, weddings and group meetings, more and more people are being introduced to the facility, he added.

Contributing to the sign project, which was installed just in time for the Perham Area Chamber golf tournament June 2, were three firms that have been longtime supporters of the public golf course: KLN Enterprises, United Community Bank, and Arvig Communication Systems.

Another new program aims at aethetics: Adopt-A-Hole.

Flower plantings, weed trimming, and repairing divots and other small improvements will be undertaken by parents.

The program has been surprisingly popular, noted Anderson, by last week, only about six holes remained on the waiting list.

With each adopted hole, the name of the business or family will be noted on a sign in the clubhouse in the clubhouse.
