Detroit Lakes man arrested in Otter Tail County on drug charges
Bail was set at $100,000 for a Detroit Lakes man accused of transporting a half-pound of meth in his pickup truck.
Eric Ryan Bergstrom, 38, of Detroit Lakes was charged in Becker County District Court with felony first-degree controlled substance crime.
According to court records, in July, agents with the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force began investigating Bergstrom, for allegedly bringing large amounts of meth to Becker County and to the White Earth Reservation.
On Aug. 19, agents went to a rural Otter Tail County residence to arrest Bergstrom on a state department of corrections warrant.
While being interviewed by police, Bergstrom admitted that he had eight ounces of meth in a boot in his Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to court recodrs. He also admitted that a week earlier he had brought a pound of meth to the reservation to sell. He said he was “most comfortable” selling in White Earth.
A search warrant was obtained and 216 grams of meth was found in his pickup truck, according to court records. In an Aug. 20 police interview, Bergstrom again confirmed that he had been bringing large quantities of meth to sell in Becker County and White Earth.
On Aug. 28 Bergstrom appeared before District Judge Gretchen Thilmony, who set cash bail or bond at $100,000, with standard conditions of release, or bond at $200,000 with no conditions of release.
His next court appearance is Sept. 16.
