Locked in a dead-heat with Pelican Rapids in the race for the conference lead, the Lady Jacket golfers played one of their best rounds of the season Monday, winning their fourth meet of the year at Forest Hills G.C. on Monday. The meet was hosted by Lake Park-Audubon.

Nikki Mattfeld was one of three Perham golfers to finish in the top-six, as she earned medalist honors with a 42. Seventh grader Holly Karkela finished third overall with a 47, followed by Jenine Estlick in fourth with a 48.

The Jackets team score of 193 was three strokes better than Pelican Rapids in second. Agassiz Valley was a distant third with a 211.

The win broke the tie between Perham and Pelican Rapids for first place in the HOL with one regular season meet to go before the conference championships on May 18.

The Vikings will have home course advantage in the final meets. On May 15, Pelican Rapids will host the final regular season HOL meet. The conference championships will be held on their second home course, Wildflower G.C. on Pelican Lake.

The two teams moved into a tie after Pelican Rapids won both conference meets held last Thursday. They won the first meet in Barnesville with a score of 200. Perham (209) was third behind Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal (207).

Jeanna Kratzke led Perham with a 51. Chelsea Sazama and Karkela each shot a 52.

The Vikings also won the second HOL meet on Thursday in Hawley with another round of 200. Perham was second this time with a 206.

The young Karkela tied for first with a 47, but lost on a scorecard playoff to Amanda Swenson of Frazee.

Sixth at Pebble Lake

Perham got their first look at Pebble Lake G.C., which will host the section meets, as they finished sixth in the 13-team Fergus Falls Invite.

No. 1-AA ranked Detroit Lakes won the title with a 332. No. 3-AA Moorhead was second with 340. Perham scored a 401 with a low round of 94 by Kratzke. mattfeld also broke a 100 with a 98.

W-DC Invite rained out

Tuesdays meet at Whitetail Run G.C. in Wadena was postponed due to bad weather. No make-up date has been set.

The girls will finish the HOL regular season at Pelican Rapids on May 15. The next day, they will head to Detroit Lakes for an 18-hole invite.

The HOL Championships will take place at Wildflower G.C. on Pelican Lake on May 18.
