"Bring your wheels."

That's how a group of kids and parents are promoting a "Skate n' Bike" rally October 13, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Whether it is defined as a sport, a hobby, an avocation or a pastime, skateboarding is on the verge of legitimacy in the city of Perham.

A location for a skatepark and BMX bicycle track was approved by the Perham City Council at the Oct. 8 meeting.

The location, which was recommended by the Perham Parks and Recreation Board, is in the East Park Addition, between 5th Street and 5th Avenue NE.

Development costs and sources of funding will be discussed at the Oct. 30 park board meeting.

Meanwhile, the Skate n' Bike Rally event will be at the cul-de-sac by Dean's Country Market. The event is intended to build support and call attention to the proposed skateboard and BMX bike park in Perham.

Those with wheels, such as bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and roller skates, are invited. Concessions of pizza and pop will be served.
