The New York Mills wrestling team opened their season with a sixth place finish at the Dan Unruh Memorial Invitational in Wahpeton, ND last weekend.
West Fargo had four individual champs and two runner-ups as they finished first with 222 points. Fergus Falls was second with 194.5, just ahead of Wahpeton with 192. Mills finished with 139 points, third among Minnesota teams.
"It was a tournament that we can build on as a team," head coach Eric Niemi said. "All of our wrestlers showed great ability and we can use that to prepare for our next match."

Brian Schornack (119 lbs), and Andrew Frost (HWT) made it to the championship round, only to finish in second place. Jordan Novak finished 3rd at 135 pounds, and both Josh Bernu (103), Myron Bell (112) and Brendan Frost (171) all finished fourth.
The Eagles triangular with Parkers Prairie and Pelican Rapids on Dec. 4 was postponed due to snow. No make-up date has been set.
