The season ended in a slugfest for the Eagles baseball team Tuesday at the section tournament. New York Mills scored nine runs but the pitching staff struggled and the Eagles lost 14-9 to Wheaton-Herman-Norcross.
Things looked good early for Mills when David Klinnert hit a 2nd inning double to right center with the bases loaded to drive in three runs to take a 5-1 lead. W-H-N answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Mills scored two more in the 4th inning but W-H-N scored four to take an 8-7 lead, two runs on hit batsmen with the bases loaded.
After Mills scored two runs in the top of the 6th the dagger came in when W-H-N scored six more runs in the inning to lead 14-9.

Mills scored 9 runs on 7 hits and had 2 errors. W-H-N scored 14 runs on 12 hits and committed 1 error.
Eagles starter David Klinnert suffered the loss. He pitched 3 1/3 innings gave up 8 runs on 8 hits, had 4 strikeouts and walked 3. NY Mills finished the season 14-8.

Klinnert started on the mound for the Eagles. He gave up 7 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 5. Jake Hendrickx entered in the 3rd inning to pick up the win. He threw 4 1/3 innings, gave up 0 runs on 1 hit, walked 3 and struck out 3.
Jake Hendrickx led the offense with three hits, including two doubles. Jason Burg and Josh Hendrickx each had two hits, including each with a double.

Luke Tervola pitched the entire game for the Eagles. He threw well and gave up 5 earned runs on eight hits, walked 5 and struck out 5. Bryce Bernu had 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Eagles offense.
