After starting the season 2-2, NY Mills lost eight straight matches before getting back to their winning ways with a 7-0 victory over Mahnomen last Thursday.

"All the Lady Eagles played very well today winning this match convincingly," head coach Gary Bach said.

The Eagles didn't lose a set all afternoon in either singles or doubles. Vanessa Goeson dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Elizabeth Pesola also blanked her opponent for one set in a 6-0, 6-2 win. The No. 3 doubles team of Christine Becker and Kendal Perala took care of business with the same 6-0, 6-2 score.

"We have seen the other side of a lopsided score too many times already this season, so it was nice to win all seven team points today," Bach said.

New York Mills will host rival Perham, at 4:30 p.m. today (Sept. 21). The Eagles beat Perham 4-3 earlier this year for their first win over the Yellowjackets since 1998.

That match will set up the Prairie Conference Tournament, which will be played in Long Prairie on Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. New York Mills finished fourth at the conference tournament last year.

Parents Day will be Sept. 26 when the Eagles host Upsala-Swanville Area at 4:30 p.m.
