Eagles earn conference win over Menahga

The Eagles baseball team is playing well, winning the last three games against some pretty good teams. The Eagles first beat Menahga on May 2, then crushed Parkers Prairie on May 4 before beating Wheaton on May 5.

NY Mills 6, Menahga 5

The Eagles scored two runs in the first inning, two in the fourth and two in the fifth. Down 5-4 in the fifth inning, Jon Bach delivered a 2-out single to give Mills the lead. Jason Burg had two hits in the game. The Eagles scored six runs on six hits.

Josh Hendrickx started on the mound for Mills. He gave up four runs on five hits in four innings. He walked one and struck out four Braves batters. David Klinnert earned the win in relief of Hendrickx. Klinnert threw three innings and gave up one earned run on three hits. He walked two and struck out three.

NY Mills 16, Parkers 2

The Eagles pounded out 13 hits in just five innings and ended the game with a 10-run fifth. David Klinnert led the offense with a homerun and 4 RBI. Jason Burg, Josh Hendrickx, David Klinnert, Bryce Bernu and Jon Bach each had two hits.

Luke Tervola pitched the 5-inning complete game for the win. He gave up two earned runs on four hits, struck out three and walked none.

NY Mills 10, Wheaton 5

The Eagles took an early 6-2 lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and three in the second. The Eagles continued to hit the ball well and scored four more runs in the fourth. Klinnert hit another homerun, a towering shot which landed in the ice skating rink area over the right field fence. Jason Burg, Josh Hendrickx, Jake Hendrickx and Jon Bach each had two hits in the game. The Eagles finished with 11 hits.

Jake Hendrickx earned the pitching win. He threw six innings and gave up three earned runs on just three hits. He walked one and struck out eight. Jon Bach threw the final inning for the Eagles.

The Eagles improved to 8-3 on the season and play Pillager, 4:30 p.m., at home this Thursday. Mills takes on Wadena-Deer Creek on Monday, 4:30 p.m., in Mills
