Shutout over Braves

The Eagles closed out their Park Region Conference schedule last Thursday with a 13-0 win over Menahga. Mills struck early and often, scoring five in the first and seven more in the second.

Designated hitter David Resch went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and three RBI. Jason Burg was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs driven in.

Mike Baune allowed just three hits without a walk in picking up his fourth win of the season on the mound.

Shootout over C-G-B

Mills had to hold off a late rally Friday as they closed out their regular season with a 10-9 win over Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.

C-G-B was first on the board, scoring four times in the top of the first. They went scoreless over the next four innings before mounting a late inning comeback.

The Eagles, meanwhile, took a 5-4 lead with a second inning rally. Consecutive hits by Wade Salo, Resch and Cavin Berube were followed by two walks and a sacrifice fly.

Mills scored two more in the fifth for a 7-4 lead when C-G-B struck back. They scored two times on one hit in the sixth, only to see the Eagles take them back with two of their own in the bottom of the sixth.

Undaunted, C-G-B scored three more in the top of the seventh to tie the game, 9-9.

Mills pulled out the win with a RBI single by Drew Schultz in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Alex Helmeke with the game-winner.
