Edna Marian Toppari, 93 of Sebeka, MN died Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN.
Edna was born August 15, 1913 to Emil and Annie (Maikke) Hietala in Blowers Township, Ottertail County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Edna was united in marriage to Everett Toppari April 18, 1934. They farmed and raised their family in Paddock Township, Ottertail County, MN, moving to Sebeka, in 1961. Edna was known in the community for her hand woven rugs and her love of flowers and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and many grandchildren, especially the babies.
Edna is survived by three sons, William of Sebeka, MN; Les and his wife Gwen of Wolf Lake, MN; Don and his wife Ruth of Menahga, MN; two daughters, Darlene Matti and her husband Floyd of Circle Pines, MN; Alice Hammett of LaPorte, MN; one sister, Lorraine Hanninen and her husband Bill of Bloomington, MN; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and life long friend, Amber Bengtson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; one son, Everett Jr.; one great grandson, Christopher Toppari; three sisters, Nell Lappi, Sylvia Jackola, Alma Widell; two brothers, Henry and Elmer Hietala; daughter-in-law, Loretta Toppari.
Funeral Services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2006 at the Wevley Funeral Chapel in Sebeka, MN with Pastor Don Salo officiating. Special music were recordings of "In the Garden", "On Eagles Wings" and "Rock of Ages." Honorary pallbearers and active casketbearers were grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Interment was at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Paddock Township, Ottertail County, MN. Arrangements were entrusted to WEvley Funeral Home in Sebeka, MN.
