Yellowjackets to roll out Homecoming Week Sept. 10
You better be ready because Homecoming, 2018 is coming early. The school year will only be four days old this year when the Perham Yellowjackets start celebrating their Homecoming Week on Monday, Sept. 10.
Perham-Dent School District students will kick off a week of Dress-up Days Monday. Frat Day is the first day's theme followed by Holiday Day, Throwback Day, Country Day and Jacket Pride Day.
Friday's activities start at 1:30 p.m. with a 45-minute Pep Fest in the senior high gym which will include announcing the choices for Homecoming Royalty.
"We will be doing the crowning during the all-district pep fest so that the elementary and middle school students will get the opportunity to be there," said Homecoming Week Student Organizer Kelsey Karlen.
The 40-minute Homecoming Parade sets off at 2:30 p.m. Starting on Coney St. SW near the school complex, which includes Perham Senior High, Prairie Wind Middle School and Heart of the Lakes Elementary, the parade will move toward the heart of downtown Perham but avoiding Main Street before returning to the senior high.
Karlen and Katie Byer are the students to contact if a business wants to have a float or a delegation walking in the parade. Their school email addresses are firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. The district phone number is 346-5900.
The Homecoming football game begins at 7 p.m. Friday with the Yellowjackets hosting defending Section 8AAA champion Pequot Lakes.
The Homecoming Dance begins at 9 p.m. Tickets for the 2 ½ hour event are $3 per person. AC Entertainment will supply the music. The dance will have a costume party theme.
Other Homecoming sporting events during the week will include a 4:30 p.m. tennis match Tuesday with Park Rapids and a volleyball match Thursday with Frazee kicking off with a 6 p.m. B-team match at Prairie Wind and a 6 p.m. JV match at the Perham Senior High. The Perham varsity takes at the senior high court at 7:30 p.m.
