Voters gave approval to school bond and levy referendums in both the Waubun-Ogema-White Earth and Pelican Rapids school districts in a special election Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Unofficial results were collected Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, from school district offices:

Waubun-Ogema-White Earth school bond referendum: Voters approved a property tax increase for the issuance of school building bonds, not to exceed an amount of $7.74 million.

Unofficial results:

  • Yes: 245 votes*
  • No: 194 votes

Pelican Rapids operating levy: Pelican Rapids Public Schools voters approved raising property taxes to increase general education revenue by $315 per pupil. The tax increase would be applicable for 10 years unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.

Unofficial results:

  • Yes: 676 votes*
  • No: 626 votes

Menahga school board: Robert J. White was selected to fill a one-year school board term in the Menahga School District. He was the sole candidate on the ballot.

  • White: 70 votes*
  • Write-in candidates: 3 votes

Underwood school board: Mark Bring was selected to fill a four-year term after a school board vacancy. He was the sole candidate on the ballot.

Unofficial results:

  • Bring: 50 votes*
  • Write-in candidates: 2 votes
