Perham-Dent Independent School District No. 549 released a parent survey July 16, looking for feedback from families as they work to plan for the 2020-21 school year.
The survey is necessary to help the School District plan learning models as they navigate the COVID-19 pandemic while they continue to educate students. The survey is available both on the Perham-Dent Public Schools website and Facebook Page.
According to a post on Facebook put out by Superintendent Mitch Anderson, the Minnesota Department of Education is working with the Minnesota Department of Health to determine how to keep students, families and staff healthy and safe. Perham-Dent Public Schools administration and staff are in the process of developing three contingency learning models based on MDH planning guidance, so our schools can be ready for whatever the public health situation may require, according to the post.
According to the post, the three learning models that the school is developing are:
In-person learning: Return all students to the school buildings; following the most current state Health Department guidelines.
Hybrid learning: Return students to the school buildings; strict social distancing and capacity limits; some distance learning from home.
Distance learning: No students return to the school buildings; all learning done from home.
The Education Department and Health Department will share their determination on which educational delivery model will be in the best interest of the health and safety of students, school staff, families, and communities the week of July 27, according to the post.
The district will announce which educational delivery model they will implement for the start of the 2020-21 school year in early Aug., according to the post.
The post said, that as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves the learning models could vary throughout the year and the school district will be proving students with the best learning experience in a safe environment continues.
