Isabelle Hennagir, a student at St. Paul’s School, was a state winner in the fall 2020 Veterans of Foreign Wars fifth grade essay contest. She placed third.
She also won at the local Perham level among all fifth graders entered and the district level of 28 auxiliaries.
The theme this year was “What the American flag means to me.”
The VFW Auxiliary Post 420 hosts three essay contests: the Voice of Democracy for ninth to 12th graders, Patriot’s Pen for sixth to eighth graders and a fifth-grade essay contest.
