Each year, United Way of Otter Tail and Wadena Counties hosts the Stuff the Bus event. Community members are asked to donate backpacks and basic school supplies, such as scissors, calculators and pencils for kids in need.

This year, Stuff the Bus took place outside of the Perham Area Community Center on Tuesday, Aug. 3. Throughout the day, community members were able to spot the yellow bus in the parking lot and drop off any needed supplies.

United Way Coordinator Summer Hammond, who was at the event, said they received a good amount of supplies.

If you or someone you know is in need of school supplies, an application to receive the donated supplies is available on the United Way website by Friday, Aug. 6. Hammond said any applications received after Aug. 6 aren't a guarantee.
