Eleanor Catherine Truitt, age 87, of Perham, MN, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rush Lake, with Father Arlie Sowada officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, September 26, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, from 2:00 - 8:30 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eleanor was born May 29, 1919, in Perham, MN, the daughter of Alois and Theresia (Lachowitzer) Loerzel. She was born and raised in Perham and attended St. Henry's Catholic School. Eleanor was married on April 14, 1942, to Sylvester "Bud" Truitt at St. Henry's Catholic Church. Together they farmed and enjoyed sixty years of marriage. Sylvester died in 2002. Eleanor was also a member of many organizations such as the Catholic Daughters, Catholic Aid Association, East Otter Tail Historical Society, and the Lady Slipper Garden Club. She raised and sold African Violets for twenty-two years. In 1990 Eleanor was chosen for the Valley Farmer and Homemaker for East Otter Tail County.
Eleanor is survived by four sons, Louis (Cheryl), Arvada, CO; Roy, Perham, MN; Howard, Perham, MN; and Arlen (Carla), Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Susan Truitt, Perham, MN; one sister, Helen Nachreiner, WI; three brothers, Paul (Marion) Loerzel, Mike (Leona) Loerzel, and Thomas (Mae) Loerzel, all of Perham, MN; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; son, Earl, 1993; sister, Loretta Blum; and brother, Norbert Loerzel.
Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, is in charge of the arrangements.
