Emil Ogroske, age 86, of Perham, MN, died on Thursday, March 16, 2006 in the tender-loving hands of the staff of the Frazee Care Center Complex, Frazee, MN, after a short bout with cancer. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henrys Catholic Church, Perham, with Father James Bernauer officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was Monday, March 20, at Schoeneberger Funeral Home from 4:00 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services.

Emil was born October 22, 1919, in Perham, MN, the son of Ernest and Amelia (Huwe) Ogroske. He went to school in Corliss Township. Emil entered the military in April, 1942, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was discharged as a sergeant in October, 1945, after serving in the South Pacific Theater. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Tobkin on September 29, 1947 at St. Henrys Catholic Church, Perham, MN.

Emil and Dorothy farmed on land purchased from Rupert and Esther (Ogroske) Johnson in Gorman Township, north of Perham, until his retirement in 1993. Emils favorite pastimes were traveling, card playing, dancing, fishing, cutting wood, reading, gardening and helping his children with various activities. His enthusiasm for outdoor activities never waned. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face. Visits with his many area friends and relatives were commonly filled with laughter and good spirits.

Emil is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Tobkin), Frazee, MN; sons, James (Linda) Ogroske, Leon (Carol) Ogroske, John (Susan) Ogroske, all of Perham, MN; daughter, Audrey (Tom) Tovson, Detroit Lakes, MN; Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive Emil. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters, Millie (Gaylord) Matson, Esther (Rupert) Johnson and Helen (Edwin) Lenius; brother-in-law, Mac (Ruby) Tobkin, all of Perham, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
