Ervin A. Vorgert, age 89, of Perham, MN, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, at MeritCare in Fargo, ND. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008, beginning at 11:00 am at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 23 at the church from 4:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Ervin Anthony Vorgert was born November 19, 1918, the son of Herman and Anna (Lehner) Vorgert in St. Anthony, MN, where he grew up and attended school. Ervin united in marriage to Marie Fabeck on October 14, 1941, at Sacred Heart Church in Freeport, MN.

Ervin started his career in the dairy industry at Cass-Clay Creamery in Moorhead, MN. He then served in WWII, stationed primarily in Italy and North Africa. He acquired tuberculosis while in the service and upon his return spent 18 months in a healthcare facility. He worked as the manager at the creameries in Lake Park and Sebeka, MN. In 1968 he accepted the position of manager at the Land O' Lakes Dry Milk Plant in Perham where he remained until his retirement in 1982. Erv and Marie were Winter Texans for 24 years. Just recently he and Marie returned to live fulltime in MN.

Erv loved his vegetable garden, fishing, and woodworking.

Erv is survived by his wife, Marie, Perham, MN; five children, Gerard (Sharon) Vorgert, Perham, MN; Ivy Juvy, Austin, TX; Ken (Colette) Vorgert, Windfield, IL; Tom (Chris) Vorgert, Robins, IA; Maryln (Dan) Lehmkuhl, Carlos, MN; three sisters, Dorothy Pickera, Hibbing, MN; Leona Davis, St. Joseph, MN; and Florence Loso, St. Joseph, MN; a brother, Walter Vorgert, Moorhead, MN; twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Preceding Erv in death are his parents; three brothers, Roman, Alfred, and Alois; and four sisters, Monica, Edvina, Susan, and Marion.
