Eugene E. Anderson, 60, of Frazee, MN died Monday, March 27 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Friday, March 31 at the Frazee High School with Reverend William Aufdenkamp officiating. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Battle Lake, MN.

Friends may call 4-8 PM Thursday, March 30 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the High School on Friday.

Eugene Elroy Anderson was born March 16, 1946 in Fergus Falls, MN to Henry and Marie (Hanson) Anderson. He was a 1964 graduate of Battle Lake High School where he was an outstanding athlete and honored as the High School All-American in Basketball. Gene attended NDSU in Fargo on a Basketball Scholarship. He married Sandra Holm in Fargo December 21, 1968. Following his graduation in 1969 he became YMCA Director in Ottumwa, IA 1969-1972. They lived in Bismarck, ND where he worked for International Harvester Credit Corp. and later for Haas Corp. Gene and Sandy moved to Detroit Lakes in 1980 and owned and operated Anderson Tru Value Hardware in Frazee. In 1984 Gene began a teaching and coaching career; teaching and coaching in Perham and Frazee.

Gene is survived by his wife, Sandra Anderson of Frazee; one daughter, Eryn (Robb) Moser of Perham; one son, Mitchell (Heidi) Anderson of Clear Lake, MN; three sisters, Debi (Stan) Anderson of Fergus Falls, Ella (Jerry) Koenck of Herman, MN, Judy (Dave LaFriniere) Johnson of Mahnomen, MN; three brothers, Vic (Donna Sam) Morden of Osoyoos, British Columbia, Duke (Roxe) Anderson of Monticello, MN, Dennis (Mary Ann) Anderson of Fergus Falls; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Sonny.

Gene was a member of the Frazee Fine Arts Association and the Community Ed Board. He enjoyed being with his family and taking family vacations; playing the guitar and singing, collecting toys, writing humorous songs for special events at school; sports, home improvement projects, and telling stories about the tip of his finger. Gene was founder of Bumble Bee Basketball with Duane Schultz, founder of Rooster Basketball, and founder of the F.A.S.T. Track Program.
