A 70-year-old Fergus Falls woman was hurt in a two-vehicle accident near Phelps Mill on New Year’s Day.
The crash occurred at the intersection of County Highway 1 and 310th Avenue, west of Otter Tail Lake, at about 4:20 p.m., according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies said a white Pontiac G6 driven by Brittany Jean Trosvik, 29, of Pelican Rapids, was westbound on Highway 1 when a red pickup in front of her slowed to make a left turn onto 310th Avenue.
Trosvik attempted to pass the pickup on the shoulder of the road but lost control due to snowy conditions. She then crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a car driven by Sally Jean Baglien, of Fergus Falls. Baglien then went into the south ditch. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
Baglien, traveling east, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox passenger car. She suffered facial injuries from the airbags that deployed, the sheriff’s office said. She also had possible neck and back injuries. She was transported by Ringdahl Ambulance to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
