A fight between two brothers who were traveling in a vehicle east of Pelican Rapids resulted in the vehicle entering the ditch.
Arrested was the driver, 51-year-old Troy Mitchell Dahl, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who had reportedly pointed a handgun toward Tyler Dahl of Pelican Rapids.
This resulted in a fight which resulted in the vehicle entering the ditch. The location was near Silent Lake at the intersection of Highways 108 and 41 at 5:06 p.m. on Jan. 13.
Troy Dahl was arrested and charged with second degree assault in county court, Fergus Falls.
Three injured in vehicle accident northwest of Perham
County deputies, working in conjunction with the State Highway Patrol, reported three people injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident northwest of Perham at 12:31 p.m. on Jan. 14.
The three injured individuals were all from Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, and included the driver of a 2017 Kia Sportage, 46-year-old Jeffrey Allan Miron.
Also injured were 13-year-old Jacob Dale Miron and 46-year-old Julie Ann Miron.
Escaping injury was 19-year-old Alexander Stephen Splonskowski of Frazee who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The State Patrol said the Kia Sportage driven by Miron was traveling east in the right lane and alongside a semi traveling east in the left lane.
The Tahoe that was also eastbound and driven by Splonskowski had an obscured view due to snow wash from the semi in the left lane. The Tahoe then rear ended the Sportage.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and the injured individuals were taken to the hospital in Perham.
Fire damage minimal
A resident extinguished a wall fire near Highway 45, west of Otter Tail Lake, at 7:58 p.m. on Jan. 12.
An outlet was on fire, causing wall damage. Later on firefighters removed paneling and did not see any additional signs of fire.
Sheriff deputies also reported that firefighters from Rothsay and Elizabeth assisted in extinguishing a fire at a shop across the border in nearby Wilkin County on Jan. 15.
Drug arrest made
Sheriff deputies arrested a man for drug possession on Jan. 15 near the intersection of Highway 30 and 150th Avenue, west of Pelican Rapids.
The man also was charged with DWI and had a handgun in his possession.
Thief arrested near Underwood
A man who stole two small bottles of liquor from the Underwood Liquor Store on Jan. 14 was later apprehended. Sheriff deputies made the arrest.
Fish house break-ins, thefts at Crystal Lake
Three fish house break-ins and thefts were reported on Jan. 20 from owners at Crystal Lake, northeast of Pelican Rapids.
Sheriff deputies said the break-ins likely took place late in the evening on Jan. 19 or in the early morning hours on Jan. 20.
Stolen items, totaling close to $2,500, include ice fishing rods, an underwater camera, tip ups, tackle boxes and speakers.
"Entry was gained by forcing locks off the fish house doors and prying them open," said County Sheriff Administrative Lt. Keith Van Dyke.
There were no immediate suspects.
School bus hits ditch near Parkers Prairie
A school bus left the roadway, entered a ditch and struck a tree northeast of Parkers Prairie at 8:17 a.m. on Jan. 19.
Only three children were in the bus at the time and none were injured.
The accident took place on Elmwood Road.
One injury near Deer Creek
One injury was reported at 11:07 p.m. on Jan. 20 in a two-vehicle accident near Deer Creek.
The mishap, according to sheriff deputies, took place at the intersection of Highways 52 and 29, northeast of Deer Creek.
