The filing period for New York Mills City Council and School Board ends Tuesday with one School Board member, and two from the City Council filing for re-election so far.

Incumbent Richard Rankka has filed with the City Clerk to again run for City Council. Rankka is seeking his second term.

Two council seats and the mayor position on the council are up for election this year. Julie Gerber, appointed mid-term, currently occupies the council seat and indicated Tuesday she will file.

The mayor seat is a two-year term. Mayor Larry Hodgson had not yet filed at press time.

Those interested in running for one of the two City Council seats, or Mayor should contact the City Clerk at 385-2213.

The four seats up for election on the New York Mills School Board are currently held by Tim Kupfer, Board President; and directors, Dan Welter, John Peeters, and Josie Hendrickx.

Hendrickx was appointed to a vacant seat in November, 2005, and has filed to run for the position.

The school board seats are all four-year terms. The filing fee is $2 and those interested in running for one of the seats should contact the District Office at 385-2553.

The filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Sept. 9
