The New York Mills Fire Department responded to a call of a garage on fire at the Doug and Roxanne Harthan residence at 119 Merry Lane. The 26X28-foot detached garage was fully-engulfed when firefighters arrived and the structure was a total loss.
The exact cause of the fire is not known and there were no injuries reported. Among the items destroyed in the fire were a 4-wheeler (pictured below), fishing equipment, various tools and other belongings. There were no other vehicles in the garage at the time. Doug was home and inside the house when he reported the fire just before noon on Tuesday.
The house was not damaged during the incident, but siding at the residence next door sustained damage.
