Garages destroyed by fires in Otter Tail County
Two garages were destroyed by fires on May 6 in different parts of Otter Tail County.
One fire took place at 1:13 p.m. southeast of New York Mills and the other fire was located northeast of Perham,
The fire near New York Mills took place near Highway 76. Nothing of significance was destroyed in the unattached garage. Cause of the fire is believed to be due to an improperly extinguished fire from previous days.
Coming to the scene were firefighters from New York Mills and Bluffton.
The fire near Perham took place near the intersection of Highway 53 and 480th Street close to 4 p.m.
Losses inside the unattached destroyed garage included riding and push mowers, in addition to power tools. A nearby house sustained moderate damage.
The likely cause of the fire was a portable fire pit that had been used the previous evening.
Dispatched to the scene were firefighters from Perham and Vergas.
Shop destroyed by fire
A fire in the early morning hours of May 5 destroyed a shop northeast of Parkers Prairie, on Highway 40.
Lost, in addition to the shop, was a chicken coop, tractor and pickup.
The fire is believed to have started in a smoker inside the shop.
Accident on I-94
One person was injured in a single-vehicle traffic accident May 6, on Interstate 94 between Fergus Falls and Rothsay.
There were three people in the vehicle when the accident took place at 8:35 p.m. The injury was non-life threatening.
ATV accident reported
An ATV accident took place on private property close to Highway 8 near Perham on May 5.
The individual sustained a leg injury and was taken to the hospital in Perham.
