The first baby of 2015 has been delivered at Perham Health.

A baby girl, Brynna Janiece Malone, was born New Year’s Day, last Thursday, Jan. 1, at 2:30 p.m. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 20.25 inches long.

Parents Justin and Marea Malone, of Ottertail, said on Friday that they were “feeling good” about their new addition to the family. Brynna is their seventh child.

Their only other daughter, Brielle, age 6, said she was especially excited to welcome another girl into the family, though brothers Blake, 12, Braeden, 10, Brandt, 8, Brock, 4, and Brogan, 2, were also happy that their mom and new sister were doing well.

The Malones had a brush with the ‘New Year’s Baby’ title once before,  just barely missing out when their oldest son was born only a few short hours after the first baby born at Perham Health that year.

All seven of the Malones’ children have been born at Perham Health.

Brynna was delivered by Dr. Ilene Reed, with help from registered nurses Teresa Ingebrand, Amanda Novotny and Dana Gillespie.

“We’re very happy with Dr. Reed,” said Marea.

Will she and Justin have any more children? Marea smiled and hesitated before answering: “We take it one at a time.”
