Florella Cavalier, age 86, of New York Mills, MN, died on Wednesday September 6, 2006 at the Thomas House in Perham, MN. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday September 9, 2006 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rush Lake, with Fr Arlie Sowada officiating. Internment will be held in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with Parish Prayers at 7:00 PM on Friday September 8, 2006, at the Karvonen and Son Funeral Home in New York Mills. It will resume for an hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Florella Martha Thompson was born in Walhalla, ND on February 2, 1920 the daughter of Thomas Thompson and Mary Duciaome. She was raised in Walhalla and met her husband Alex Cavalier there. The two were married on June 12, 1937 in Leroy, ND. They moved to Minnesota in 1948 settling in Otto Township of Otter Tail County. From 1967-1971, Alex and Flo owned and operated the Wagon Wheel in Richville. Flo began working for Swift and Company in Pelican Rapids and Frazee in 1971 and retired 1987. Alex passed away on January 12, 1984. Flo continued to live in her home in Otto Township until 2004, at which time she moved into the Thomas House, where she remained until her death.

She is survived by her daughters: Eloise (Cal) Schultes, Perham; Janet (Joe) Videen, Moorhead; Wanda (Ron) Wallace, New York Mills; Sally Cavalier, Minneapolis; Linda (Marty) Engebrit, Andover; and Sherry (Pat) Richards, of New York Mills; sons: Ronald (LaVonne) Cavalier, Browerville; Rodney (Lynn) Cavalier, Coon Rapids; Gordon (Jackie) Cavalier, Perham; Roger Cavalier, New York Mills; and Terrance Cavalier, of New York Mills; along with 30 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Flo is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alex; and daughters: Ruth Cavalier, Sandy Strickland, and Judy Braddock. Florella will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Arrangements were provided by the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home of New York Mills, Minnesota.
