Frazee man shoots self while threatening passenger

Jared Scott Allen Hanson, 27, of 31348 County Road 10, Frazee has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree assault.

According to court records, on Feb. 6, he accidently shot himself while putting his gun back into its holster while he was driving around with another man. A dashboard camera allegedly showed that Hanson had been using the gun to threaten to kill the man.

"I'll blow you the f... away," Hanson allegedly told the man.

"Put it down, put it down," the man responded.

Then Hanson allegedly yelled in pain and told the man he had shot himself in the leg.

On March 17, Hanson appeared in court before District Judge Michelle Lawson, who set cash bail at $7,500 or bond at $50,000, with standard conditions of release, or $75,000 without conditions.
