Fred A. Rinas, age 87, of Alexandria, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 31, 2006 in Alexandria.
Fred was born December 24, 1918 in Corliss Township, rural Perham, Minnesota, to Fred and Ida (Wendt) Rinas. He attended country school in Corliss Township. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on February 2, 1919.
On September 21, 1940, Fred married Anita Tester of Leslie, Arkansas. Anita died on October 11, 1980. In 1939, Fred entered the U.S. Army and remained in the military for seven years. After returning from the service in 1946, he farmed for a period of time and decided to go into insurance work as an agent and shortly after that a reinsurance company hired him. Eventually he became a Senior Vice President of that company.
Fred was united in marriage on January 6, 1984 to Betty Thompson. Fred retired in Alexandria. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and buddies.
Fred is survived by his wife, Betty of Alexandria; one brother, Wilbert Rinas of Dent, Minn.; two sisters, Velma and husband Harley Karvonen of Perham, Minn. and Delores and husband Lowell Mickelson of Spokane, Wash; stepchildren Robert and wife Ruth Thompson of Atlanta, Ga., John and wife Annette Thompson of Spicer, Minn. Barbara and husband David Kise of Parkton, Md. and James and wife Jacque Thompson of Montevideo, Minn.; his stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife, Anita.
