The membership drive for the newly formed Friends of the Perham Area Public Library will be launched November 5.

Founding members will be out and about Perham to provide information on the group and encourage businesses and individuals to join the Friends.

According to the non-profit group's bylaws, the Friends was formed to focus public attention on the library's facilities and needs; to stimulate the use of the library's resources and services; to receive and encourage gifts to the library; to encourage endowments and bequests to the Perham Area Public Library Fund; to support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community; and to support the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights.

On Monday, supporters will be handing out brochures and "Future Friends" stickers.

All new members will receive a Friends pin and those signing up for lifetime memberships will receive a special Friends book bag.
