It was an evening of honors, entertainment and a few surprises, at the "Honey Bee Gala."
Student performers--singers, orchestra and band students, and speech team competitors--took the stage. In addition, more than two dozen students, teachers, school boosters, volunteers and adults were honored with Civic and Student Investment, Worker Bee and Achievement Awards.

Among the surprises was a special tribute to Jo Strege, coordinator of the 549 Family Foundation, who has organized the Honey Bee Gala events since inception more than four years ago.
Perham-Dent School Superintendent Tamara Uselman was also caught off guard when Perham Lions President Jeff DeVillers presented her with one of the "Civic Investment Awards."

Another surprise was an unscheduled humorous presentation by PHS junior Amanda Snyder. After accepting her "Student Investment Award," Principal John Rutten coerced the speech team member to perform her contest entry.
Another speech team member, Sami Guck, presented her first place winning, all-original, humor and satire piece: "Beautiful girls who are beautiful."
The evening included a silent auction and dinner buffet--hosted at the newly-remodeled Mulligan's and Lakeside Golf Course clubhouse.
