The funeral service for George R. Jepson, 85, Wolf Lake, Minnesota will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Evergreen, near Frazee. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. in Furey Funeral Home, Frazee and one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in the Pickett Cemetery, near Frazee. George died on Saturday, July 28, 2007 in his daughter's home near Wolf Lake under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
George Ray Jepson was born the son of Ray and Florette (Seger) Jepson on May 4, 1922 in Bristol, Oklahoma. He moved with his family to the Evergreen area and there he was raised. He entered the United States Army and served during WWII. Following the service, he moved back to the Frazee area. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Nolette on August 14, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MN. They made their home between Roseburg, Oregon and Frazee while George worked road construction. Following his retirement, they eventually settled near Frazee. Evelyn died on May 25, 2001.
George enjoyed the scenic drives to Florida where he loved deep sea fishing.
He is survived by two sons, George Terry Jepson of Wolf Lake, MN; Roy Jepson of Wolf Lake, two daughters, Doreen (David) Mohs of Cortez, FL; and Carol Jepson of Wolf Lake. He is also survived by two sisters, Olive Erkkila of Eugene, OR; Betty Lou Paulabiki of Perham, MN; four brothers, Ralph Jepson, David (Deloris) Jepson, Bob Jepson and Ernie (Shirley) Jepson all of Frazee, 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, a son, Mark, a grandson, Jason Mohs, two brothers, James and Don Jepson and two sisters, Edna and Isabelle.
