The Lady Jackets didnt exactly end their regular season as they had hoped. Hawley knocked off Perham 41-31 last Thursday in the season finale.

It was the Jackets fourth straight loss after reaching the .500 mark at 11-11 earlier this month.

A poor shooting first half resulted in a 22-14 lead for the Nuggets at halftime. The team didnt heat up in the second half either, finishing the game 12-for-48 (26.6 percent) from the field, including 0-for-3 from three-point range.

Brandi Cresap led the team with 11 points. Dani Stoll added eight points to go with eight rebounds and four assists.

The loss left the Jackets at 6-12 and in eighth place in the Heart O Lakes. Barnesville, ranked No. 2 in Class AA, won the HOL with a perfect 18-0 record.

Playoffs ahead

Perham will be the Norths No. 3 seed in the upcoming 8AAA playoffs. Their task will be to upset No. 2 seeded Park Rapids (21-4) in the first round today (March 2) in Park Rapids starting at 7 p.m. The Jackets hung tough with the Panthers and their 64 center Janessa Wolf in a 52-44 loss on Dec. 8.

Should the Jackets survive, they will take on the winner between the souths No. 1 seed, Willmar and No. 4 Rocori, who play in one other quarterfinal game. The semifnials will be at MSU-Moorhead on March 4.
