FERGUS FALLS -- County Probation Director Michael Schommer provided a brief summary of the annual report and overview for his department to the Otter Tail County board of commissioners on Tuesday, March 17.
Schommer reviewed probation changes and improvements that have been made in the recent year as well as strategies to assist with reducing the number of juvenile clients.
The Probation Annual Report and Overview are available to the public on the county website at ottertailcountymn.us/report/probation-overview-2019/.
Otter Tail County probation agents monitor offenders’ compliance with court-ordered conditions which can include treatment programs.
“We work to provide the best possible corrections services to the communities in which we serve,” Schommer said.
County renews its contract with Lakeland Mental Health
A motion by County Commissioner Doug Huebsch of Perham and seconded by Commissioner Betty Murphy of Maine Township was unanimously carried on March 17 to approve a purchase of service agreement between Otter Tail County and Lakeland Mental Health Center of Fergus Falls.
This contract is for evaluation services for Otter Tail County Court Administration which works closely with the judiciary.
There are times when individuals who are convicted of crimes require mental evaluations, and that’s where Lakeland Mental Health Center comes into the picture.
County engineer requests approved
County commissioners, on the recommendation of County Engineer Chuck Grotte, awarded the purchase of bituminous roadway material to Flint Hills Resources of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. The purchase is in the amount of $2.53 per gallon.
A roadway salt purchase agreement was issued to Compass Minerals America of Overland Park, Kansas, in the amount of $99.61 per ton as recommended by County Engineer Grotte.
The county board also approved a Phelps Mill County Park farmland lease to the highest bidder, Daryl Tysdal of Fergus Falls, in the amount of $2,201.99 as recommended by Grotte.
