The city of Perham held a special City Council meeting on the evening of Wednesday, April 28 to discuss several updates on the Perham Area Community Center project.

In a public hearing, the 2021 project was approved for $4.75 million general obligation sales tax revenue bonds. After this, it was approved for property tax abatements prior to the sale of the bonds on May 10.

According to Senior Municipal Advisor Todd Hagen with Ehlers Public Finance Advisors, this is a common practice for recreational-type projects.

Several other items discussed during the meeting were:

  • The greenhouse will be moving to the high school complex soon
  • The Hub and PACC projects are coming along well
