Harlow Names, age 73 of New York Mills, MN died on Saturday September 16, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his family and under the additional care of Hospice. Funeral services were held at11:00 AM on Wednesday September 20, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills with Pastor Jon Haakana officiating. Janell Brakel is the organist. Interment is in Greenwood Cemetery in New York Mills. Casketbearers are: Dennis Vandermay, Dennis Swenson, Ronald Wright, Becky Ehnert, Keith Beckman, and Jim "Pollock" Niedzielski.
Harlow Loren Names was born in Wadena, Minnesota on March 18, 1933 the son of Loren and Marie (Hansen) Names. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Wadena. He joined the US Army and served in the Korean War. He was married to Bernice Bengstson on June 25, 1955. He was a farmer and also worked for Tuffy's Pet Foods. He was there for 25 years. He was active in 4-H and served as a leader for 25 years. Following his retirement, he did a lot of camping. He was a member of the Headwaters Chapter of Good Sam's Club. He also served as an Assistant Director of the Minnesota State Good Sam's.
Harlow is survived by his wife of 51 years: Bernice; four daughters: Susan (Brent) Allen, Fargo, ND, Linda (Raymond, Jr.) Ellingworth, New York Mills, Sandy, of Fargo, and Mary (Mark) Starkweather, Moorhead, MN; one son: Mitchell (Nicole) Names, Dilworth, MN; 12 grandchildren: Ryan & Rachelle Allen, Monica (Ryan) Davidson, Jennifer & Becca Ellingworth, Stephanie, Erica and Amanda Shierholz, Josh & Brooke Starkweather, and Grace & Greta Names; and 2 great grandchildren: Emily and Reece Davidson.
